Free guidance for Civil Services Exams

Kerala Samajam IAS Academy has announced admissions to its free Civil Services Exam Guidance Programme for 2013. The year long programme will begin on November 10. Classes will be held on Saturdays and Sundays at Hindustan Academy , Marathahalli, Bangalore.

Art workshops
Art House is conducting a series of on art. Discover Bengaluru through Sketching is a 10-week workshop, starting on September 30, 2012. This is on sketching and drawing. Classes are held every Sunday between 10 and 12:30. Art of Water Colour, is a 10-week workshop on all aspects of water colour, starting on September 29, 2012. German course

Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan has announced a German Learning course from September 27 to January 7, 2013, at the institute’s premises at 716 CMH Road, Indiranagar 1st Stage, Bangalore 560 038. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays,  from 5.15 to 6.45 pm.  No classes on notified holidays Classes are for children between  11 and 15 years of age. Fee:  Rs. 6000. Scholarships for the visually impaired

Vidya Vikasa Trust is offering scholarships for visually impaired students. The Trust is a public charitable Institution is striving to spread literacy and education among the economically backward class by conducting free Hindi classes, seminars and lectures and providing financial assistance to blind students.

  Visually impaired students, who come from economically backward families, and who have passed SSLC in March 2012 and are continuing their education in and around Bangalore can apply.  Application forms can be obtained by sending a self addressed envelope (9x4 size) only affixed With Rs.5 postal stamp to: Vidya Vikasa Trust (R),  Shankaranarayana Nilaya, 225(B)[20], 37th Cross,2nd Block , Rajajinagar, Bangalore-10. Parenting workshop

Chetana is a 10 days parenting workshop that explores perspectives that enable the parent to understand his/her child better, improve adult-child communication and understand oneself. Cost: Rs 3000. Certificate in Life Skills course

Banjara Academy has announced the “Certificate in Life Skills”, a four-months part-time programme to understand and imbibe life skills, based on the 10 life skills as enumerated by WHO, and suitably modified for Indian ambience. Henkel Innovation Challenge

 The sixth annual “Henkel Innovation Challenge” has kicked off. Students from 25 countries are invited to participate. The task for the participants in the “Henkel Innovation Challenge” is to develop a concept for an innovative and sustainability-related product or technology for a Henkel brand, according to the vision and market needs in 2050. Students are invited to develop innovative ideas in teams of two – for one of Henkel’s business areas: Adhesive Technologies, Beauty Care or Laundry & Home Care.

New this year: the concepts must be in alignment with Henkel’s sustainability strategy under the theme “Achieving more with less”. Students should consider how their new product or technology will drive progress along the entire value chain — from the selection of the raw materials, through sustainable production and distribution processes, to its use and disposal.

The “Henkel Innovation Challenge” is open to students of all subjects, including economics, engineering and natural sciences. Students from all over the world including teams from 12 European countries, 9 Asian-Pacific countries, 4 Latin American and North American countries will compete for a final place in the “Henkel Innovation Challenge.”
Chemistry undergraduate bursaries

Faculty of Natural and Environmental Sciences at the University of Southampton is offering a bursary of £3,000 to international students for its Chemistry undergraduate programmes. The scholarship will be awarded to qualified students after they firmly accept an offer in year one or year two of any chemistry undergraduate degree.

The school offers a range of degree programmes that include BSc Chemistry, MChem Chemistry, MChem Chemistry with six-month placement, MChem Chemistry with one-year placement, MChem Chemistry with Medicinal Science, MChem Chemistry with Mathematics, BSc/MChem Chemistry with Foundation Year.
