Couple found murdered in Uppinangady

In a heart rendering incident, a couple was found murdered in their house at Umbila in Kodimbala village in Uppinangady on Wednesday morning. The miscreants have taken away the gold from the house.

According to the police, the deceased are Baby Thomas (58) and his wife Mary (45). The duo hail from Nelloornadu in Wayanad and have been residing in Umbila for the last one-and-half years. 

The body of Mary was lying in a pool of blood inside the house while the body of Thomas was inside the car which was 50 metres away from the house. The incident came to light when labourer Kunhappan visited the house to tap rubber on Wednesday morning. The reason for murder is yet to be ascertained.

It was said that Mary was Thomas’s second wife. He is survived by two sons and a daughter from his previous marriage. His first wife had passed away one year ago.

He married Mary, a aresident of Arla in Nelyadi six months ago though his children had opposed the marriage. One of his son is in Bangalore and another is in Dubai and daughter is in Kerala. 

Even Mary was married in the past and her husband had passed away two years ago. She had two children from her first marriage. However, none of them were staying with the couple.
