NFIW wants IAS officers to declare assets

Last Updated 01 October 2009, 17:17 IST

The Federation has suggested revival of the abolished High level Committee on Anti-Corruption, setting up of the committee as directed by the Union Government to protect honest officers and IAS officers to make public declaration of their assets.

Elaborating on the suggestions, Jayashree J N, President of NFIW, said, "Although the Committee on Anti-Corruption was set up, it was not functional. The committee was supposed to meet at least once in six months. However, through our RTI application, we came to know that between 2001 and 2004, the committee had met only twice and after that it had not met even once. In fact, we came to know in August that the committee had been dissolved in 2007."

She added that NFIW would request the Chief Secretary to make public declaration of his assets and become a role model for others.
