Getting grander

The magnum opus Pazhassi Raja is already the talk of the town thanks to the great names associated with it like — Mammootty, Sarath Kumar, Gyanpeeth-winner M T Vasudevan Nair, T Hariharan, music-maestro Ilayaraja and Oscar-winner Resul Pookutty. But now the list has just grown bigger and better with the biggest star of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan joining the bandwagon.
King Khan has dubbed the prologue for the Hindi version of the movie which is releasing simultaneously in five languages including Hindi and English. Interestingly, Shah Rukh is a great fan of the National Award-winning director T Hariharan and is also quite keen on watching the movie. When Hariharan approached SRK for the movie, he readily agreed to do the prologue without even charging a
penny. Elaborating on this, Praveen V C, executive
producer of the movie says, “Shah Rukh comes from a family of freedom fighters and feels happy to be associated with such a project.”
The makers of the movie are keen on taking the best from the industry and in no condition are willing to compromise on the quality. They have even managed to rope in superstar Kamal Hassan to dub for the Tamil prologue of the film. The Malayalam original has Mohanlal introducing Pazhassi Raja to the audiences through a 45-second prologue.
The film is a historical on Pazhassi Raja (played by Mammootty), a king of Wayanad in the Malabar area of Kerala. He is said to be one of the first freedom fighters who started a guerrilla war against the British. Apart from superstars Mammootty and Sarath Kumar, the film also stars Manoj K Jayan, Thilakan, Padmapriya, Kanika and Jagathi Sreekumar in pivotal roles. The roles of the East India officials are played by Peter Handley Evans and Harry Key among others.

Comedy with romantic twists

After the dismal failure of his last film Halla Bol, Rajkumar Santoshi is all set to bounce back with Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, which is a comedy movie starring Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles. Ranbir plays the role of Prem, whose fundas in life are very simple — be happy, make others happy and keep the town happy.
But these supposedly simple fundas usually result in disastrous consequences for Prem, the members of his Happy Club, and the town. In what can be called a case of mistaken identity, Prem kidnaps Jenny (Katrina Kaif).
It is sheer greed that makes Prem try to pull a fast one over her father.
Jenny, brought up by indifferent foster parents, longs to love and be loved in return. It is love and only love for Jenny that makes Prem turn over a new leaf.
From a besotted Romeo, he becomes a mature and thoughtful Majnu who puts Jenny’s happiness above everything else. As for Jenny, she is so much in love with the idea of being in love that she is blinded by the reality that is staring in her face in the form of Prem.

Not fair for Neil

Poor Neil Nitin Mukesh must be busy consulting dermatologists and checking out whether it’s safe to opt for some sun tan.
Yes, the man is facing a very peculiar problem.
For the first time, heroines are facing an issue with a fair hero. Neil’s creamy complexion is annoying even the fairest girls of the industry including Katrina Kaif, because he looks fairer than all of them on screen.
This chuppa rustam has a girlfriend tucked away in Delhi. One wonders if she has the same complex too?

Brush with Hollywood

During the premiere of the American mini-series Bollywood Hero, guess who was seated next to Neha Dhupia? It was none other than Hollywood superstar Ed Norton. A source close to the actress said, “Neha did not know who was seated next to her during the screening of Bollywood Hero. She did not recognise him initially.”
When Neha looked closely, she couldn’t believe her eyes. She kept pinching herself to make sure that it was actually Ed beside her.
“Ed’s presence took her by surprise. He had actually squeezed out time and
attended the premiere of Bollywood Hero,” said the source. “Ed complimented Neha on her performance in the series. Neha is still drooling over the praise. She hasn’t
gotten over it yet.”

Film on political feud

The very personal and political Thackeray family feud will be up on the big screen soon. The Bollywood potboiler follows Raj Thackeray’s split from his uncle and Shiv Sena patriarch Bal Thackeray, to form his own party, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena.
The film, Mumbai Tiger, written and directed by Raju Kokate, will focus on the Sena’s dynasty politics. Kokate said his film will be more realistic than the other recent Sena-based films like Sarkar and Sarkar Raj, both with Amitabh Bachchan’s roles being modelled on Bal Thackeray.

Ceremonial act

Sanjay Dutt was seen doing the dasara aarti at the Police Colony in Bandra, Mumbai recently. Dressed in a casual t-shirt and pyjamas, Sanjay looked tired, possibly
after a long day of work. However as promised, the man was very much on time at the venue. Also seen with him was noted lawyer Rizwan Merchant.
Sanjay, on this auspicious occasion, decided to talk to the media. The actor said he prayed for the betterment of the entire nation and gave his best wishes to Rizwan Merchant. Making it a short and sweet visit, Sanjay and Rizwan soon got going after the aarti.
