Protests over Cauvery issue intensifies in city

Students, advocates, organisations take to the streets

 Students of various colleges, advocates, organisations hit the road on Friday, opposing the decision of the Cauvery River Authority (CRA).

Protestors accused the Central government of being biased towards Tamil Nadu in instructing release of Cauvery river water.

Advocates boycotted court proceedings and took out a bike rally to KRS Dam.
Akhila Karnataka Vishwakarma Mahasabha, Mysore-Chamarajanagar Jilla Arya Edigara Sangha took out a rally from Gandhi statue in front of the Court Complex to the deputy commissioner’s office and submitted a memorandum.

Members of Billava Sangha, SNDP Yogam and Worker’s Association participated. President of Arya Edigara Sangha M K Potharaju, secretary S Krishnamurthy, president of Vishwakarma Mahasabha Chandru Vishwakarma, Nanda Kumar, Shivabasavachar, Kendagannaiah and others were present.

Mysore Kannada Vedike demanded a ban on Tamil entertainment and news channels in Karnataka. They demanded the resignation of prime minister Manmohan Singh. President Balakrishna, Suresh Babu and others were present.

Members of Janata Dal (Secular) reached Chamundeshwari temple atop Chamundi Hills on foot by the steps and performed special puja.

Activists under the banner of Bharathiya Samskruthika Vikasa Vedike took out a silent procession from Basaveshwara statue in Agrahar to the DC office. President Tagadur Gowri Shankar, Ilaialvar Swamiji, Raghuram of Akhila Karnataka Brahmana Mahasabha, Sanjeev Kumar, Geetha Ganesh and others were present.

Bahujana Vidyarthi Sangha (BVS) demanded the resignation of Union ministers and MPs from the state including S M Krishna, K H Muniyappa, Mallikarjuna Karge, M Veerappa Moily, A H Vishwanath and Dhruvanarayan. They urged the Central expert committee to submit an objective report, without being influenced by any pressures.

Students of Mallamma Marimallappa Arts and Commerce College, Marimallappa Pre-University College, Sadvidya College and Banumaiah College under the aegis of Vishwamanava Vidyarthi-Yuva Vedike staged a protest in front of the DC office, opposing release of Cauvery river water.

Taking out a rally from Hardwick College, they reached the DC office via Marimallappa College, Sadvidya College, Banumaiah College, Devaraja Urs road.

They raised slogans against Tamil Nadu and its chief minister Jayalaitha. President M J Suresh Gowda, Manoj, Raghavendra, Prabhu, Gagan, lecturers Vishwanath, Mariyappa, Nagendra Prasad, Shruthi, Manu, Prithviraj, Vijaya Satya Sai, Kiran Kumar, Hemanth Naik, Nandish and others were present.

Students of Devaraja Government Pre-University College under the banner of Akhila Karnataka Vidyarthi Parishat took out a rally from the suburban bus stand to the DC office.

Members of Karnataka Rajya Kannada Sene took out a rally from Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple on premises of Mysore Palace to the DC office. District president Venkatesh Gowda, M Srinivas and others were present.
BEML Workers Union, Mysore also staged protest  in front of DC Office.
