Jyoti Nivas College (JNC) held its annual alumni reunion recently.

.
It was a nostalgic experience for the ex-students, some of whom were meeting their old friends and classmates after nearly 20 years.

Everybody was seen reminiscing about their youthful days and drawing comparisons between then and now, especially since the college has undergone dramatic changes over the years.

“It feels good to come back for this every year, since I have many fond memories attached to this college. The main reason why I attend every reunion is to meet my lecturers, since I have a special bond with them. During my time, the Jyoti Nivas family was a much smaller group and it was easier to maintain contact with everyone,” shares Devyani D’Cruz, from the batch of 1979.

The former students were treated to a fun evening, where they could go up on stage with their batchmates and dance to the tunes of the yesteryears.

The elated ex-students spoke of the good times they had in college. Their attachment to the college was clearly seen in the fact that many of their daughters are now students of the college as well.

Sr Rosalie, an old JNCite, is delighted to have been associated with this institution for so long.

She has grown from a student to an administrator under the eyes of her lecturers and is proud to be a part of the Jyoti Nivas family, where she plans to continue working.

Principal Sr Elizabeth C S, an essential part of the reunion, was seen having a jolly time with the ex-students. “The legacy of Jyoti Nivas is not just the college itself, but what you carry with you when you step out into the world — the value system, the ideals and the vision. You are JNC’s best ambassadors and the impact you could make in the growth of JNC’s influence is indeed special. It is the collective effort of all the alumni that will spread cheer and create a ripple effect within our growing family,” says the principal.

“Nothing speaks more highly of a college than having successful alumni who serve and lend their support to their alma mater,” she adds.

All in all, it was an uplifting day for those who have supported the college over the years and gone out into the world as proud JNCites.
