Thekkady: Aishwarya, 4 others still untraced

As reported, the bodies of 41 people were recovered till Thursday.

Even though the Navy divers conducted searches in the reservoir for the whole of Friday, no bodies could be found. The rain and bad weather made the exercise all the more difficult. Besides Bangalore residents Senthilkumari and her daughter Aishwarya, the two teenaged children of a couple from Hyderabad were also to be found.

The husband and wife were inconsolable as they found it hard to cope with the disappearance of their 19-year-old son, an engineering student, and daughter who was only 15.

Meanwhile, the chief boat inspector of the Irrigation Department who undertook a preliminary investigation of the boat and the scene found no defect in the boat.

According to him, the inexperience of the boat driver and the strong wind that blew in the lake could have caused the accident. Several survivors have said the driver did not stop the boat while taking the crucial turn to return to the landing point.
