Blast of music in the Capital

For the lovers of music, a live performance tantalises their senses to the core. If you are one among these then get set for one of the biggest music festivals, Bacardi Nh7 Weeekdender, which is coming to Delhi now. The list of performers at the Weekender third edition is bound to leave you with asking for more, for it includes names like Anoushka Shankar to Megadeth and from Shafqat Amanat Ali to Pentagram!

The festival will feature six stages, each dedicated to a different genre of music. It will also bring back popular dance and electronica stage Eristoff Wolves Den, The Dewarists Stage with folk and fusion music, Black Rock Arena with rock and metal, Dub Station with dubstep, drum ‘n’ bass and reggae.

There will also be a brand new stage this year – The Fully Fantastic Stage where will curate the music, programming popular favourite and new rising bands that must be on the listener’s radar.

In addition, there is a brand new Bacardi Breezer area with crazy costumes and insane colours, where the DJ will spin reggae, funk, jazz, salsa and other music to make sure everyone present gets into the groove.

Among the international headliners who will take to the stage will be Megadeth, Anoushka Shankar, Shafqat Amanat Ali and Kaiserdisco. At the Black Rock Arena, Megadeth, Indus Creed, Pentagram, The Circus, Parikrama, Zero, Scribe, Comedy-rock project by Vir Das’ Alien Chutney, Undying Inc, Solstice Coil and Delhi Metal Project will perform. Shawn Drover from Megadeth says, “Playing India back in 2008 was an amazing and certainly unique experience, to say the least. It’s not everyday that I arrive to play a show and there are dancers and elephants waiting to greet you! The fans in India are so amazing so it will be a thrill for Megadeth to return to India to perform.”

Other artists at the gig will include the ever popular Indian Ocean, the Raghu Dixit Project, Swarathma, Karsh Kale Collective, Midival Punditz, Papon and the East India Company, Hari and Sukhmani, Advaita, Adi, Suhail and Tarun who will provide a mellifluous medley.

Rahul Ram of Indian Ocean says, “We played at the Weekender in Pune last year and we are really looking forward to playing at New Delhi too and being among so many different bands from different genres. Now that it’s going to be in three cities, we are sure it’s going to be better this year.”

The list is long and one has to be there to believe that Delhi can rock it like this too! To believe it, be at Buddh International Circuit on October 13 and 14.
