<p>Veteran theatre artiste, singer and actress B Jayashree said the renowned litterateur Kota Shivaram Karanth’s persona and contributions to the field of literature are unique and inimitable.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Speaking after receiving Dr Shivaram Karanth Hutturu Prashasthi-2012 here at Sri Shambhavi Vidyadayini School Giliyaru, she said the award was the most precious one in her life. <br /><br />She said the Karanth was always known for his unprejudiced and secular approach who supported modern thinking. “The award has bestowed huge responsibilities and has put me in a dilemma whether I can do justice to the great honour I have received.” <br /><br />Sharing her memories of her interactions with the late litterateur, Jayashree said “I was always interested in producing Karanth’s two novels “Maimanagala Suliyalli” and “Mookajjiya Kanasugalu” in theatrical form. However, I could not succeed in my attempt. <br />Whenever I experience the characters in “Mookajjiya Kanasugalu”, I always see Karanth alive in those characters”, she added. <br /><br />Renowned litterateur Nissar Ahmed lauded the attempts of the Kotathattu Gram Panchayat for giving away the award in the name of Kota Shivaram Karanth. <br /><br />Stating that the state has seen two outstanding contributors to literature in late Kuvempu and Kota Shivaram Karanth, Ahmed stressed that a workshop on Karanth, with discussions on his work needs to be conducted. <br /><br />He promised to lend as many as 200 books to Kotathattu Karanth library free of cost. He called upon people to read the books written by Karanth and develop scientific temperament. <br /><br />The programme was inaugurated by Third Finance Commission Task Force Chairman A G Kodgi.</p>
