Catch some action on stage at Dwadasha

Natana, a theatre group is all set to host ‘Dwadasha Rangotsava’, a 12-day theatre festival from October 13 in the city.

The fest coinciding with Nada Habba Dasara festival promises a feast for the connoisseurs with all time hits to be staged. More than that, it will be a charity programme to raise funds for the ongoing Natana Rangamantapa.

The fest will begin on October 13 at 6.30 pm at Dhvanyaloka on Bogadi road with the staging of ‘Ali baba matthu nalavaththu kallaru’ (Ali baba and forty thieves) written by Jnanpith laureate Chandrashekar Kambar. It is directed by Mandya Ramesh of the host Natana with music composed by Raju Ananthaswamy.

Chama Cheluve, the recent and successful production of Natana will be staged for seven days from October 14 to 20 at the same venue daily at 7 pm. It is written by Sujatha Akki and directed by Mandya Ramesh. Pichchalli Srinivas has composed the music. Following day, on October 21 ‘Agni Maththu Male’ written by another Jnanpith laureate Girish Karnad will be staged. It is directed by Mandya Ramesh.

On October 22 at 7 pm, ‘Dhaam dhoom suntaragaali’ Kannada adaptation of William Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’ by noted writer Vaidehi, will be staged. Jeevan Ram Sulia has directed the play.

On October 23, ‘Gandhi- Ambedkar’ of Premanand Ghajavi translated into Kannada by D S Chowgal, directed by former Rangayana director and renowned theatre person C Basavalingaiah will be staged. Vidwan Nandakumar has composed the music.

On October 24 Vijayadashami day, ‘Chora Charanadasa’ by  Habeeb Tanveer, directed by Mandya Ramesh will be staged.

Noted actress and MLC Tara Anooradha will inaugurate the fest on the day in the presence of commissioner of Mysore City Corporation (MCC) M R Ravi.
