Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister R Ashoka on Wednesday condemned the statements of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha and Pondicherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy on the Cauvery water-sharing dispute.

“They have no moral right to make such statements and talk about Karnataka and Kannadigas,” Ashok told reporters on the sidelines of an event in the City.

Ashoka said such statements would worsen the relationship between the two states. “We are in a pathetic state and the two states are indulging in blackmail tactics. The problem erupts whenever Jayalalitha becomes chief Minister,” he stated. Chief Minister Shettar has met the Union ministers.

“The ball is in the PM’s court now,” the Home Minister said.
