Common admission test begins today

More than two lakh candidates to write test in 61 centres

The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2012 will be held on Thursday at 61 centres in 36 cities across the country.

The exam is held for admissions into the 13 Indian Institute of Managements (IIMs) and other premium Business Schools registered for CAT.

The Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode, is conducting the test this year. According to statistics available with Prometric, 28 per cent of the total over two lakh applicants this year are girls, which is up by one per cent as compared to last year.

The candidates appearing for the morning session of the exam commencing from 10 am have been asked to report by 8.30 am and those registered for session two, with exams beginning from 3.15 pm, have to report by 1.45 pm.

The exam, like the previous years, will have two sections of quantitative ability and data interpretation, verbal ability and logical reasoning with each sessions lasting for 70 minutes.

ID proof

Candidates have been asked to take along the original admit card and originals of photo identity proof such as driving licence, passport, PAN card or voter ID.

Don Bosco Institute Of Bio - Sciences And Management Studies, East Point College Of Engineering For Women, Global Academy of Technology are a few of the test centres in Bangalore.

The exams this year is being held from October 11 to November 16 and the results are expected on January 9, 2013.
