The Central Hall of fame at second secretariat

The magnificent Suvarna Soudha, Karnataka’s second secretariat in Belgaum, has the unique distinction of being the only State secretariat building in the country to have a Central Hall.

Designed after the Indian Parliament building, the hall will come in handy for holding joint legislature sessions.

President Pranab Mukherjee is said to have been impressed with the pictures of the Central Hall.  Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar had presented him an album of the Soudha while personally inviting him to inaugurate it on Thursday.

Seating capacity

The 31x38 metre-wide hall, with a seating capacity of 450 plus, including for the media, has state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, art equipment and electronic gadgets. The Assembly Speaker and the Council chairperson can control the cameras in the House using computers at their desks.
