Indian football coach Wim Koevermans made just one change from the side that won the Nehru Cup last month when he named the 20-member squad for the October 16 away friendly against Singapore.

Dempo striker Joaquim Abranches got the nod in place of Manandeep Singh while young Pune FC striker Jeje Lalpekhlua continues to be on the sidelines.

The squad will depart for Singapore on October 13 in three batches from Kolkata, Mumbai and Delhi.

“We need to assess ourselves. We need more such matches,” Koevermans said. Sunil Chhetri, who captained India in the Nehru Cup, said, “The Nehru Cup triumph stays fresh in our memories and we need to sustain the momentum.”

The squad: Goalkeepers: Subrata Pal, Subhasish Roychowdhury, Karanjeet Singh.

Defenders: Nirmal Chhetri, Denzil Franco, Gouramangi Singh, Gurwinder Singh, Raju Gaikwad, Syed Rahim Nabi.

Midfielders: Lenny Rodrigues, Mehtab Hossain, Jewel Raja, Francis Fernandes, Alwyn George, Anthony Pereira, Sanju Pradhan, Clifford Miranda.

Forwards: Robin Singh, Sunil Chhetri, Joaquim Abranches.
