'Shortage of fertilisers in Kotekar'

Addressing a press meet here, he said farmers in 14 villages coming under the bank are affected by the fertiliser shortage. The situation is worse compared to last year, he said. “The farmers in the region need about 50-60 tonnes of fertiliser but the bank has received only 12 tonnes till date. The government should take immediate steps to supply necessary quantity of fertilisers, he urged.

Bashir also said the government should urgently implement its assurance of support price for areca. Delineating on the growth of the bank in 2008-09, he said the bank has earned a profit of Rs 44 lakh, after a transaction of Rs 81.03 crore. “We have announced a dividend of 25 per cent to our customers,” he added. The head office of the bank at Kotekar, branches at Ullal-Permannur and Deralakatte have been totally computerised. The Talapady branch will be computerised in 2010, he informed. Bank General Manager Damodar, Vice Chairman Krishnappa Salian and Directors Gangadhar U, Abdul Aziz were present.
