Aspiring young footballers will get a chance to showcase their talent when the third edition of the Mahindra Youth Football Challenge kicks off at the Bangalore Football Stadium here on October 27.
The 15-day under-14 inter-school tourney will be the first step for the players vying for the three berths available to be picked to train with the Scottish professional team Celtic Football Club in Glasgow.
Thirty two teams, including last year’s winners, Government Sports School, will feature in the Bangalore intra-city round to be played in the league-cum-knockout format. The event concludes on November 10. In the all-India inter-city round, the Champion School from Bangalore will meet the top schools from Delhi, Kolkata, Kerala, Mumbai and Goa, the venue for which will be decided later.
After the inter-city matches, a Celtic panel will shortlist 22 to 24 players who will undergo a four-day coaching clinic before picking the three best players.
