Bangalore has witnessed highest hiring of non-resident Indians (NRIs) professionals in the second quarter of the current fiscal, says a study.

According to a joint study by recruitment tendering platforms MyHiringClub.com and NriJobPortal.com, Bangalore accountable for 18 per cent NRI professional hiring from overall hiring activity in the second quarter.

This was followed by Hyderabad and Mumbai (16 per cent each), Delhi /NCR (15 per cent), Chennai (13 per cent) and Kolkata (8 per cent), it said.

"I believe, job opportunities are more in Bangalore and in fact, most of the NRIs who are seeking to come back are from the technology background so Bangalore becomes the preferred choice," MyHiringClub.com CEO Rajesh Kumar said.

The study, conducted among more than 800 employers across 11 industries, found that NRI professionals accounted for 13 per cent of total hiring in the country in the three months ended September, a 11 percentage point decline over the previous quarter.

"Cost Control activity in India Inc and less hiring activity due several aspects are major reason for decline in overall NRI professionals hiring activity in the country," Kumar said.

Among the sectors, IT and IT-enabled sector is having maximum NRI Professionals hiring index of 17 per cent, followed by pharma and healthcare (13 per cent), FMCG (12 per cent) and automobile and manufacturing (11 per cent).

Kumar said,"sectors like IT and healthcare are preferring to hire NRIs due to the versatile exposure of candidates."
