JD(U) party elections on December 5

The State JD(U) which had failed to hold its organisational elections last year, has scheduled to conduct its presidential elections on December 5.

Addressing the media in Bangalore on Saturday, JD(U) national secretary Arun Kumar said that the elections will be held after the taluk and district presidents elections which would be completed by mid-November.

Presently, M P Nadagouda is the state president. Though the term is for two years, the party, which could not hold its elections last year, extended his term for another year.

Kumar also said that the party would host a national conference on December 20, while its national executive was expected to be held in Bangalore shortly. All national leaders are expected to participate in this.

Alternative political force

He said that the three political parties in the State had lost relevance due to the many corruption charges against them, and that there was a need to create an alternative political force.

The party has also decided to hold a state-level students conference in Hassan on November 19, where university and college students will participate.

Following this, the party will also organise a youth conference, he added.

Presently there are around 6,000 active members in the party across the State, with around 60 candidates ready to contest the taluk and district level elections.
