Two people, including a policeman, were killed in separate accidents on Saturday.
In the first incident, Kodandarama, 52, a police head constable working at Parappana Agrahara station was riding pillion with police constable Nagabhushan on a ‘Cheetah’ bike when it was struck by a speeding SUV from behind.
Both riders sustained severe head injuries. They were rushed to a nearby private hospital.
Kodandarama died en route. Nagabhushan is said to be out of danger. The SUV driver abandoned his vehicle and fled.
According to police, the SUV belongs to a branch of the HCL company at Jigani.
The cab driver was ferrying employees after a night shift when the incident occurred.
Police sources added that those in the cab did not render help to the victims and instead boarded another vehicle to go home.
Kodandarama, a resident of Katriguppe, had joined the service in 1983.
In another incident, a motorcyclist was mowed down by a mini-truck at Abbigere in Yeshwantpur on Saturday morning.
Masai John, 52, was a resident of Abbigere and worked as a supervisor in a private company.
He was on his way to a shop, located near his house, when his vehicle was struck by the goods vehicle from behind. He died instantly.
