Temple burgled; property worth Rs 1.20 lakh stolen

Some unidentified miscreants gained entry into Rajarajeshwari Siddivinayaka Temple in Kuttar on the outskirts of City and decamped with jewellery and cash worth Rs 1.20 lakh.
According to police, they gained entry into the temple by breaking open the main door and took away gold chain weighing seven sovereigns from the main deity and silver ornaments weighing half kg from the sanctum sanctorum. Miscreants have also taken away Rs 35,000 by breaking open two steel boxes. Police visited the spot. Sniffer dogs and finger print experts were pressed into service. Ullal police have registered a case.  

Accidental fire

An accidental fire which broke out in an electrical shop gutted majority of the equipments at Belthangady on Saturday night. Plastic pipes, electrical wires, fans, wire bundles have been gutted. The loss is estimated as Rs 2 lakh, said shop owner Vishan Singh.

Liquor seized

Excise officials seized goods worth Rs 2 lakh from a manufacturing unit producing illicit liquor at Narimogru in Puttur.
The arrested has been identified as Manjunatha alias Manjaiah. The seized goods include 1,000 liquor sachets machine, 2,000 liquor sachets, 100 plastic cans.

Child dies

A five year old child accidentally fell into a water tank which was under construction at Darbe in Puttur on Sunday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Rayal D’Costa (5). A case has been registered.
