Tytler asks Quraishi to intervene

Indian Olym-pic Association vice-president Jagdish Tytler has written a letter to SY Quraishi, former Chief Election Commissioner who will oversee the upcoming IOA elections, requesting him to intervene into the proposed suspension of Suresh Kalmadi and two other tainted officials.

Tytler had earlier written a letter to International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Ethics Commission of the apex body had recommended that the tainted trio of Suresh Kalmadi, Lalit Bhanot and VK Verma, be suspended from all their functions within the IOA.

The IOA, however, has so far dilly-dallied on the suggestion of the IOC, prompting Tytler to write another letter to Quraishi. “Indian Olympic Association is going through lot of corruption charges due to involvement of three person i.e Mr Suresh Kalmadi, Mr Lalit Bhanot and Mr VK Verma into Commonwealth Games Delhi 2010. These three persons have been charged by the court and are out on bail,” Tytler said in his letter. Current secretary-general Randhir Singh and boxing federation’s chief Abhay Singh Chautala are the likely candidates for the president’s post which would be decided on the Nov 25 election.
