The vacation bench of the High Court on Thursday issued emergent notice to the Mysore University Registrar (Examination) and notices to the chief secretary, principal secretary to the department of Social Welfare and others following a petition seeking stay on the new rules framed by University of Mysore on examination fee structures of SC, ST, OBCs and minorities students.

While hearing a petition filed by Mysore Nagara Vidyarthi Kriya Samithi, the Division Bench comprising Justice Abdul Nazeer and Justice B S Indrakala, ordered notices and further stayed the notification issued by Mysore University on June 23, 2012 and directed to follow the old examination fee structure.

During the hearing, the petitioners submitted that since 1982, the examination fee, including fee for markscards was only Rs 100, for SC, ST, OBC and minorities students in Mysore University.

However, June 23, 2012 notification issued by the university stated the OBCs and minorities have to pay the full fee and there was no concession in examination fee.
The petition further stated that there were other confusions in the notification as it was very vague. Hearing the petition, the Bench stayed the notification and further directed the university to follow the old fee procedure and adjourned the case for further hearing.
