B S Yeddyurappa’s move to form a party has been described as being regressive by ex-chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda.
Speaking to reporters at Gundapura Cross in the taluk on Friday, Gowda said that the new party will also not be a threat to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). “It is sad that the efforts of BJP national leaders to pacify Yeddyurappa have failed. The former chief minister’s act can be construed as betrayal.”
‘Teach a lesson’
Sadananda Gowda also noted that considering how the party had feted Yeddyurappa, it now fell upon the people of Karnataka to teach him a befitting lesson. “The people of the State cannot be taken for granted. They are closely watching political developments in the State and are sick of the State being held for ransom.”
He expressed confidence that the BJP will win many seats in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Labour Minister B N Bache Gowda, MLC Y A Narayanswamy, Zilla Panchayat president C R Narasimhamurthy and others were present at the press meet.
