A public meeting will be held on October 31 at Senate Hall at Central College for all the people who have lost land or have been affected by the land acquisition process for the Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Project (Nice).

The meeting comes in the wake of directions by the Special Lokayukta Court to social activist T J Abraham to issue a public notice to all the affected persons to pursue the matter further.

Abraham had filed a complaint in the Lokayukta Court alleging large-scale fraud in the acquisition of lands and execution of the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor Project and the associated Peripheral Road and Link Road.

The Court on Thursday had directed the attachment of toll collection for the last two years and a probe by the Lokayukta police into violations by ministers and officials and others.

Abraham has asked people attending the public meeting to come with all the documents pertaining to the land they have lost and papers related to the case if it has been challenged in any of the courts.

The meeting will begin at 10 am.

Meanwhile, Abraham has mentioned that a complaint will be made before the Karnataka State Bar Council about advocate R V S Naik of King and Patridge, a shareholder in the Nice and a beneficiary.

The court had directed Abraham to take up the matter before the appropriate forum, after Abraham alleged that Naik had represented the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) in connection with land acquisition in more than 68 cases before the High Court and various other forums and tribunals.

Abraham had contended that these representations were made in specific cases where the KIADB and the Special Land Acquisition Officer had acquired land for Nice and were fighting against dispossessed land owners.
