Be it gripping car chases, uber-cool gadgets or beautiful women, James Bond movies have always captured the attention of people from different generations across the world.

Suave : A scene from ‘Skyfall’.

The last release was ‘Quantum of Solace’ in 2008 and since then, many have been waiting to know what the next Bond film is going to be.

Which is why, it’s not surprising that people are ensuring that they have a ticket to ‘Skyfall’, directed by Sam Mendes, which will be releasing today.

So what’s the hype all about? Well, not only is the movie the 23rd in the Bond series and the third one featuring Daniel Craig, it will also coincide with the 50th anniversary of the series, which began with ‘Dr No’ in 1962.

Metrolife asks fans about their expectations of ‘Skyfall’ and what they like about the series. When it comes to Bond movies, one of the striking features is the leading man himself. Over the years, one has seen many, from Sean Connery, Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan to Daniel Craig. There has always been a debate on who the best Bond is.

“Over five decades, each one of them had the licence to kill and they  brought something new to the plate. So it will always be difficult to choose my favourite. But I really like Daniel Craig for his rugged personality and the way he does the stunts,” says Priyanka, a professional.

Lines like ‘My name is Bond, James Bond’ or ‘Vodka Martini...Shaken not stirred’ still  thrills fans when they hear it on big screen. What people are also looking forward to, is seeing the main villain of ‘Skyfall’, played by Javier Bardem.

“After Pierce Brosnan, ‘Bond’ movies have been a bit of a letdown. But I am stoked about this one as I have heard that the plot is great and so is the villain. So let’s hope Craig can bring some Connery and Brosnan magic,” says Kevin, a student.

Even the official ‘Bond’ song by Adele has got people humming. Aditya, a professional, says that he heard the official song online.

“This year, the song is really catchy. Adele is an amazing artiste and I am sure it will be a success here,” he adds.

If the women swoon over Bond’s charm and action, the men look forward to the women. This movie will see Berenice Marlohe and Naomie Harris. “I think they have a certain attitude and glamour like most ‘Bond’ girls. A ‘James Bond’ movie is not complete without the girls. The good girl turns bad and vice-versa.

The cliches will be there but that’s the fun part of the movie,” states Prithvi, an avid fan. But for Lavanya, a student, who has grown up watching the series and swooning over Pierce Brosnan, the real excitement of a ‘Bond’ film is in the way the makers manage to capture one’s attention till the end.

“The climax is always the best part. The exciting action sequences are something one can’t get enough of. I am expecting a lot from this one and hopefully it will not disappoint,” she adds.
