Nilam effect: Rain lashes Kolar, Chikkaballapur

Inclement weather prevailed in Kolar and Chikkaballapur as a result of cyclone Nilam that hit Tamil Nadu coast on Wednesday.

Chikkaballapur remained cloudy with incessant rain throughout the day. With temperatures declining, cold weather prevailed.

Business, including that of street vendors, was marginally affected due to the weather condition.

Kolar town received sudden unexpected affecting the routine of students, traders and workers. Rains became a hurdle for the smooth movement of vehicles; the bus station and the auto stands wore a deserted look with number of passengers having dwindled.
Business was affected as several shops could not open late in the morning and had a few of customers.

Otherwise the rest of the town were remained closeted in the warmth of houses. With people covered in woolen clothes, all snug and warm, it appeared as though winter has already set in.

Intermittent drizzle that started in the morning turned into a heavy downpour by 4 pm.
Potholes on roads turned into muddy pools at Clocktower, Shehanshawnagar, Mahalakshmi Layout, Muneshwara Nagar, Karanjikatte Road, Takel Road and MB Road. The motorists and pedestrians had a harrowing time, navigating the roads marooned by rainwater.
A school van ferrying around 30 children got stuck in a pothole ner Karanjikatte. It took more than half an hour for passersby and the school staff to lift the vehicle.
