At a time when the Kannadigas themselves are becoming the victims of Western culture and addicted to English language, here is one person with Urdu as a mothertongue showing his unflinching love towards the Kannda land and language.

Kannada reigns in the house and heart of 50-year-old Jabbar Saab, a resident of Kaveripura of the town and an employee of M K Agrotech Company.

With unbound love for Kannada, the family members converse only in Kannada language and have almost forgotten Urdu language.

His house is adorned with the portraits of famous Kannada poets and also that of Jnanpith awardees and a Kannada flag fluttering permanently on the rooftop. He also has a collection of Kannada novels and anthology.

Jabbar is also a die hard fan of matinee idol Dr Rajkumar and has a collection of more than 300 rare photographs of the actor. He has also collected audio cassettes and CDs of rare patriotic and Kannada film songs.

Kannada Rajyotsava means celebration for this family as the house is decorated with buntings followed by distribution of sweets to friends and neighbours. He also ties Kannada flag to his bicycle during the month of November.

Hailing from Pavagada, Tumkur district, he also observes birth and death anniversary of Dr Raj. He has turned out to be perfect example for his love towards Kannada language amid those so called Kannada activists who send their wards to English medium schools.
