A 48-year-old businessman and his wife were found murdered at their house in north-west Delhi’s Netaji Subhash Place on Tuesday evening.

Police say entry into the house was friendly.

But they suspect it to be a case of robbery as the house was ransacked.
Satpal Garg, a scrap metal dealer in Tri Nagar, who also runs a car accessories shop in Budh Vihar, and his wife Ramkali, 46, lived in a two-storey house in Sri Nagar with two sons, Sanjay, 26, and Naveen, 23. According to police, the deaths came to light when Sanjay returned home at 8.30 pm.

He got suspicious when he found the lights of the house switched off. He informed the neighbours and gained entry into the house to find his parents’ bodies in two separate rooms.

“Satpal’s body was lying in the drawing room with a strangulation mark on his neck. Ramkali’s body was found in the store room in a pool of blood with an injury mark on her head,” said P Karunakaran, deputy commissioner of police (north-west).
The two were taken to Maharaja Agrasen Hospital, but were declared brought dead upon arrival.

Another official confirmed that valuables, including gold jewellery and cash, worth around Rs 8 lakh were missing.

After a police team inspected the house, prima facie it seemed that the assailants made a friendly entry and attacked the couple while trying to escape with valuables.
A case of murder has been lodged with Netaji Subhash Place police station.

The investigators hope to ascertain the time-frame during which Satpal and Ramkali were killed with the help of post-mortem report.

Police have not ruled out the possibility of a known person’s involvement in the crime.
They are questioning the family’s domestic help and neighbours to get some clues about the incident or any culprit.

According to Satpal’s nephew, Deepak, a milkman visited the house around 7 pm and rang the doorbell, but got no response.
