From France, with love

Vanessa-Mae, a prominent British violinist once said, “Violin playing is a physical art with great traditions behind it.”

And that is what the City witnessed, when Frédéric Pelassy, one of the most celebrated French artistes in the international music world, performed a violin extravaganza, at Alliance Française de Bangalore recently.

The audience was amazed by the musical treat by the artiste, who is renown for his capability to heighten music to celestial spheres. Frédéric’s rendition across the world has always been saluted as exemplary, and his performance in the City met his calibre.

One of the most prominent French musicians of his generation, Frédéric in a span of 20 years, has performed in more than 50 countries across all continents. Frédéric is also known as an ‘Ambassador of French composers’ and he always dedicates a part of his performance to these composers.

The evening’s performance consisted of pieces, like Jean Sébastien Bach’s ‘1st Sonata’ in 4 movements: Adagio, Fuga, Sicilienne and Presto; Sergeî Prokofiev’s ‘Sonata’ in 3 movements and Darius Milhaud’s ‘Pastoral Sonatina’ in 3 short movements.

Jules Massenet’s ‘Meditation of Thaîs’; Jacques Ibert’s ‘Caprilena’ for violin solo, a short piece in 1 movement; Eugène Ysaye’s ‘3rd Sonata’ for violin solo in 1 movement, and ‘4th Sonata’ for violin solo in 3 movements, and Nicolo Paganini’s ‘Caprices’ were the other pieces.
