Valuables worth Rs 40 lakh stolen

Valuables worth Rs 40 lakh were stolen from a doctor’s residence in Cubbon Park limits when the house members were away. The incident came to light when Dr Ratnakanth, 72, returned to the City Thursday night. They found the house ransacked and valuables kept in the almirah missing. A complaint has been lodged with the police.

Four held

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) personnel arrested four rowdies and seized lethal weapons from them in Adugodi recently. The arrested are Gurumurthy, 30, a resident of Girinagar, Ashok, 31, Vinayaknagar, Harish, 28, Raghavendra Block and Antony, 41, Adugodi. 

According to the police, armed with lethal weapons, they were waiting near a telephone booth at Samatha Nagar to rob people.

In another incident, police arrested Giri, 36, a resident of Nanjamba Agrahara, Krishna J, 33, Kengeri and Sampath Kumar, Tittamaranahalli in Ramanagar district and seized lethal weapons. Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested them near Mysore Road. Two other suspects Ganga and Shankar are absconding, stated the police.

In yet another incident, the CCB personnel arrested Amar, 18, Harish, 20, Venkatesh, 20, Kiran, 19 and Siddaraju, 23, all from Vyalikaval and seized lethal weapons from them. They were arrested near a eucalyptus grove close to Jnanabharathi campus. They had planned to rob passers-by, stated the police.
