Uttar Pradesh Lokayukta Justice N K Malhotra on Saturday said, as an individual, he was finding it difficult to defend his recommendations made against ministers as they were being challenged through petitions before the High Court and the Supreme Court.

Bringing out his predicament, he asked the judiciary to come to his rescue as those who had to demit their offices following his adverse recommendations on charges of corruption, arrayed him as respondent in their petitions.

“I have recommended action against eight cabinet ministers from the previous government (led by Mayawati), forcing them to give up their post and three ministers in the present government (led by Akhilesh Yadav), I am facing litigation myself. I hope the judiciary will come to my rescue,” Malhotra said.

Jharkhand Lokayukta Justice Amreshwar Sahay said the Right to Information (RTI) Act as the transparency law hampered its proceedings.
