Year-long celebrations to mark BVB's 75 yrs

The Platinum jubilee of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and 125th birth anniversary of its founder K M Munshi will be celebrated year-long from November 6.

The celebrations will begin with ‘Bhavana Sangeetha Nrityotsava’, an evening of music and dance at the Glass House, Raj Bhavan and Governor H R Bhardwaj will inaugurate the programme. The cultural programmes will be held in association with the Raj Bhavan, Doordarshan, AIR and Indian Council for Cultural Relations.

Addressing mediapersons, Bhavan’s director, H N Suresh said, “A total of 75 cultural programmes have been lined up to mark the celebrations.

Besides, Dr K M Munshi Centre for Arts and Culture will be set up to offer courses in appreciation and understanding intricacies of various forms of art and literature and a ‘Gandhi Centre for Computer Learning’ — a venture initiated by Microsoft Corporation — to facilitate IT courses for school dropouts.”

He said that Kulapati K M Munshi Forum for Good Governance will be set up and Bhavan’s ‘Aadhara Sthamba’ will be installed. Suresh added that the Bhavan has already begun the celebrations with the publication of translations of 25 works on K M Munshi.
