‘I don’t understand size zero’

healthy Sonali Bendre

There’s been a lot of pressure on new mothers in the film fraternity to lose weight — but Sonali Bendre, one of tinsel town’s yummy mummies, feels that it’s stupid to pressurise women in this fashion. In the last few months, actresses like Aishwarya Rai, Lara Dutta and Shilpa Shetty have found themselves under the scanner for putting on a few kilos after their respective deliveries. But Sonali, who has a seven-year-old son Ranveer, says it’s okay to take your own sweet time to shed the fat.

“You have to shed it when you feel like shedding it. It’s your body. If I am comfortable with my weight, then who is anybody to say anything about it?” Sonali questions. The 37-year-old, who is married to film-maker Goldie Behl, says her life changed after she became a mother.

“It’s lovely to be married to your best friend. I think life changed after we had a child. If we have ever felt that we are married, it was after the child. It’s a mental thing because suddenly, you are responsible for this life and it’s a huge responsibility. No matter how much you hear it, it is very difficult when you experience it,” Sonali admits.

The actress was last seen in 2001 film Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega. She says she fails to understand the size-zero figure phenomenon in the film industry. “I don’t understand size zero. I have always been the way I have been. Every body type is beautiful in it’s own way. I think the main thing is what kind of a person you are from the inside — how beautifully you talk and present yourself. That is what matters. The personality
matters,” she adds.

Talking about her eating habits, the fit and fabulous actress states, “I am a very healthy eater. I have a great metabolism. I have great genes and I would thank my parents for that.”

Sonali will soon be seen in the sequel to the 2010 film ‘Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai’, opposite Akshay Kumar. The movie also features actors Imran Khan and Sonakshi Sinha.

Back on the screen soon

Last seen in 2011 film Double Dhamaal, Ashish Chowdhry is now itching to be back on the screen once more. He says whether it is television or films, he will finalise a project soon. “Last that I did was Double Dhamaal. Couldn’t shoot more films for three years because of personal and business reasons. I’m more than happy to make a restart,” tweets the actor. “I’m hearing films and TV out.

TV always gave me immense love. If I get better stuff on TV, I won’t hesitate. Both satisfy, and both are loved. Although I promise, I’ll definitely finalise something in a few days to come because I miss the camera. Acting is my passion. Won’t be long,” he adds. If the buzz on the grapevine is to be believed, Ashish will be seen in a daily soap with Shilpa Shirodkar. But he clarifies, that he hasn’t signed anything yet.

“Yes, I’m hearing stuff because I’m ready to shoot 2013 on, as desk work is allowing me to (sic),” Ashish further posted. The actor is not alien to the small screen. He was earlier seen in a show titled Hum Pardesi Ho Gaye.

Family comes first for Shahid

Shahid Kapoor’s fondness for his younger brother Ishaan is well known. The actor chose to take a busy day off just to be with him on his birthday. Ishaan, who is 17 years old, is Shahid’s mother Neelima Azeem’s son with husband Rajesh Khattar.

Shahid, who started the shooting of his new film Phata Poster Nikla Hero recently, had a string of engagements lined up. He had magazine shoots, a script-reading session and preparation work for the shoot — but he took a complete day off as he really wanted to be with Ishaan on the special occasion.

Confirming the same, a spokesperson for Shahid says, “Yes, Shahid is extremely close to his younger brother and took a day off.”

Missing out on the fun

Actress Priyanka Chopra will miss the fun and frolic of the festival of lights as she will be occupied with work in the US this Deepavali.

“Every year, we have fixed responsibilities at home for Deepavali. My responsibility has always been lighting diyas and making the rangoli, but unfortunately this year I will not be in India,” says Priyanka.

The actress had missed celebrating the festival last year as well, as she was busy preparing for her debut international single ‘In My City’.

A feeling of emptiness

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan says that he feels empty ahead of the release of any of his films.

This time, the feeling is perhaps deeper — given the sudden death of film-maker Yash Chopra who directed the actor’s forthcoming release Jab Tak Hai Jaan, set to hit the screens on November 13. “Feel kind of empty as the release of a film comes closer.

Miss all the warm times with the unit... and a big thanks to Anushka (Sharma) and Katrina (Kaif),” tweets Shah Rukh.

The movie is the last directorial venture of Yash Chopra, who died on October 21 following multi-organ failure. Shah Rukh was extremely close to the film-maker.
