Last Updated 06 November 2012, 16:03 IST

Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions (RBEI) commenced operations in their new Automotive Systems Laboratory.

The laboratory allows engineers and researchers to study the modern running-mechanism in live engine and vehicle systems. RBEI has responsibility in the powertrain domain for the BRIC countries. The company said that it wants to capitalise on the growing market in use of electronics in an automobile. Currently, 15 per cent of the value of a high-end car lies in the electronic and intelligent systems used in the car and RBEI said it wants to ride the growth in this segment in the emerging markets.

In 2011, the company had recruited 850 engineers in the powertrain electronics domain and another 750 would be recruited this year, it had announced in March 2012.
