Cong, BJP in cyber war in Gujarat

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gujarat and the opposition Congress have gone all out to ensure victory in the upcoming assembly elections.

With the real battle a few weeks away, the BJP is showcasing the accomplishments of the government in the last 12 years to seek yet another term for Chief Minister Narendra Modi, while the Congress is working hard to “spread awareness” on the failures of the present ministry, hoping to defeat the saffron outfit.

The Congress has hired popular Gujarati tele serial actor Tulika to get its message through electronic and digital media. A website,, has also been launched for the campaigning.

“We did not want to focus on a leader on an individual; instead we wanted to generate awareness about the drawbacks of the present regime through the campaign,’’ said a Congress leader in charge of the campaigning in Gujarat.

He said focusing on one leader would possibly create rifts, given the caste and regional equations.

The party, therefore, decided to draft in a popular face. Tulika not only took interest in the project but also decided to write the script for the advertisement, pointed out the worker.
