Wife among 3 held for sorcerer's murder

K R Nagar police crack truth behind half burnt body found in March

In a case that could well be a plot for a potboiler, police have arrested a woman who had conspired with her lover to eliminate her husband, only to marry again.

Disclosing this to media here on Wednesday, SP R Dileep gave the names of the arrested as Neela wife of the deceased Shivanna, her lover Abhishek of Bilikere and his friend Rajesh of Halebeedu.

Shivanna of Bilikere was a black magician by profession. The couple has a four year-old daughter and one year old son. Neela was having an extra-marital affair with Abhishek who was running a provision store in the same village.

When Shivanna got wind of his wife’s adultery, he had reportedly warned her against continuing with the relationship. Abhishek who became furious after learning the same, decided to get rid of Shivanna. Neela too supported him.

On March 7, Abhishek took Shivanna near the old bridge on Hassan- Mysore road on the pretext  of performing  black magic for a cause. Strangely, despite knowing about his wife’s affair with Abhishek, Shivanna didn’t sense any trouble. Rajesh, a friend of Abhishek also accompanied them.

Soon after reaching the spot, Abhishek inflicted wounds on the private part of Shivanna with the help of a sharp-edged weapon. The duo also tried to dipose the body by setting the same on fire.

The incident came to light when Basavaraju of nearby Sanyasipura village came across the half-burnt body. A special police team led by KR Nagar inspector Prasanna Kumar got into the skin of the case and nabbed the accused.

An unrepentant Abhishek confessed to media that he hacked Shivanna to death only to marry his lover.  “I have already tied the knot at a temple and will lead a life with her after coming out of the jail”, said Abhishek.

SP R Dileep announced a reward for the police team that cracked the case. The team also consisted of SI R Lava.

Additional SP R B Mohan Reddy, Dy SP (rural) Siddappa were present.
