JOIN USIn a bizarre incident, a drunkard set his disabled daughter on fire killing her here on Saturday.
Nirmala (8) daughter of Prakash of Bandur village in the taluk is that unfortunate victim. She was immobile owing to deformity in her legs since birth.
Prakash who was working in a garment factory in Bangalore had returned to his native three months ago after quitting the job.
He had taken to alcohol and was quarreling with his wife daily. On Saturday too he picked up an ordeal with his wife. In a fit of rage, he took his daughter sitting outside the house and threw her into the pile of coconut fronds after setting the same on fire.
Strangely, the girl’s mother who was inside the house at that time didn’t even have an inkling of the her daughter’s tragic end. As the house is located on the outskirts of the village, it took sometime for the news to spread.
Nirmala was elder among the two daughters of the couple. Rural police have taken Prakash into custody.
Dy SP Hanumantha Reddy, circle inspector Prathap Reddy, sub-inspector Santosh visited the spot.
