T-Congress leaders mull separate front

Worried over the prospects of fighting elections without fulfilling the promises made to the people of the Telangana region, Congress members of Parliament from the area have decided to write to party president Sonia Gandhi and, if possible, contest elections from a different platform.

They met at the residence of senior minister K Jana Reddy on Sunday and discussed the recent conclave of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi at Karimnagar and the deadline declared by party chief K Chandrasekhara Rao to the Centre and the Congress. MPs Ponnam Prabhakar, Vinod, Gutta Sukhinder Reddy and Manda Jagannatham and former MP K Kesava Rao during a closed-door meeting expressed despair over the party high command‘s indifference towards Telangana.

“We have been telling the people that the Congress will deliver Telangana. How can we face the electorate while the high command has more or less ruled out Telangana till 2014,” Kesav Rao asked.
