'Create awareness  on secularism'

There is a need to create awareness on the secularism attached to democracy in the country.

A community can progress, only when the members have respect and love towards the community, said Assembly Speaker K G Bopaiah.

Speaking at the golden jubilee celebrations of Baithoorappa Sangha of Puggera family in Devanageri, he said that the State government has released Rs 60 lakh to Kodava Sahitya Academy. Kodava Study Centre has been set up in Mangalore University, to give emphasis to Kodava culture, tradition, and literature.

Kodava Academy President A C Cariappa said Puggera family has been emphasising on the culture. As a result, Bolakat, Ummathat dance formats have been conserved. District-in-Charge Minister Appachu Ranjan presided.

Kodava Centre coordinator Dr Kodeera Lokesh, Puggera family seniors K Subbaiah and Appayya abd others were present.
