This Children’s Day, the National Gallery of Modern Arts delighted the young with ‘The Fabulous Adventures of Aditi and Friends’, a play.

The play, an adventurous tale of a little girl, a monkey, an ant, two dragons, an elephant and a giant had the children enthralled. The play was followed by drawing and writing exercises.

Weaving the theatrical performance with a fairytale narrative, coupled with shadow puppetry against acapella scores as background music, the adventures of Aditi and her gang of friends reached epic visual proportions as they travelled around the world – at one time landing on the banks of River Thames to save a dragon and wrestling a giant at Mount Vesuvius at another.

“The play was nice and fun,” said Siddharth, a 12-year-old who had come with his parents.
Amalajyothi (14), who had come with two of her friends straight from school and clad in uniforms, said the play was interesting. Parents who showed up in an equal number, along with their children, seemed to be more enthusiastic about the play.

“The energy levels of the characters and the voice modulation attracted me the most in the play,” said Anita who had brought her son.
