'Strictly ban cow slaughter in DK'

Hundreds of activists who participated in the protest rally staged by the Vishwa Hindu Parishat and Bhajarangdal against the cow slaughter, demanded the government to strictly prohibit the cow slaughter in the district.

The protest was staged as a part of the state-wide protest, in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in the city on Thursday.

The activists shouted slogans urging the government to ban the cattle slaughter, failing which they warned of “doing the work” on their own.

Addressing the activists, VHP Prantya Vice-President M B Puranik said that hurting the sentiments of majority Hindus would spoil the friendly atmosphere in the society.

Peace and harmony could be attained by banning the slaughter of cattle, he said.Kasargod based Hindu organisation leader Kuntaru Raveesh Thanthri alleged that a few anti-national organisations of misusing Hindu girls through Love Jihad, involving in terrorism activities, religious conversion, cattle slaughter etc, thus hurting the sentiments of the Hindus. “We must unite and fight against such forces,” he said.
