Suu Kyi arrives in City

The Myanmar Opposition leader and chairperson of the National League for Democracy (NLD), Myanmar, Aung San Suu Kyi, arrived in the City by an Air India flight that landed here at 8.50 pm on Friday.

With not too many people present to welcome her, she made a low-profile entry, leaving the Bengaluru International Airport by 9.30 pm to Hotel Leela Palace, where she is scheduled to stay overnight.

She will leave for Madakashira in Anantapur District, Andhra Pradesh, early on Saturday. She is scheduled to meet Union Minister for Panchayat Raj Jairam Ramesh at Madakshira, where she will be briefed on the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

She would return to Bangalore and visit the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) at 3 pm.
At the IISc, she is scheduled to visit the nanotechnology lab among other facilities. She will also interact with the students and researchers scheduled at the Faculty Hall on the IISc campus. 

Later, she will visit the Infosys campus and leave Bangalore from the HAL Airport at 8.30 pm.
