Limbavali junior quits JD(S), joins BSR Congress

Last Updated 17 November 2012, 17:58 IST

Ashok Limbavali, elder brother of Minister Aravind Limbavali, quit the JD(S) to join B Sriramulu’s BSR Congress, here on Saturday.

Ashok, a native of Bagalkot district, was with the BJP for nearly three decades, before joining the JD(S). He was the district president of the JD(S) for a couple of years.
He is keen on contesting from Mudhol (Reserved) Assembly constituency in Bagalkot, in the next elections. Presently, Minister Govind Karjol represents this constituency in the Assembly.

CPM rallies

The State unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) will organise two rallies in November, to register its protest against corruption in the State, as well as across the country and also against the economic and privatisation policies of the UPA government. While one rally will start from Ramdurg in Belgaum district on November 18, the other will commence the next day from Basavakalyana in Bidar district.

Both the rallies will culminate in Bangalore on December 3, according to G N Nagaraj, CPM state secretariat member. He said it is an irony that B S Yeddyurappa, facing various corruption charges, and B Sriramulu, whose name is sullied in the illegal mining cases, are offering alternatives to the BJP and the Congress.

The communist party, through rallies, will create political awareness among the people and suggest them to look for an alternative to the Congress and the BJP in the next Assembly elections. The rallies will cover 22 districts, he said.
