Last Updated 18 November 2012, 18:37 IST

The All India Lawyers Union (AILU) will organise a national-level conference for the benefit of its members from December 27 to 29, to tackle the immediate challenges in the judiciary.

According to the organisation, the conference will concentrate on four areas of interest, namely; decentralisation and democratisation of the judicial delivery system, corruption plaguing the political and judicial system, the human rights and Constitution, apart from impact of globalisation on legal profession. The location for hosting the conference is yet to be finalised.

Senior advocates said corruption in the judiciary required to be checked and a campaign needs to be initiated within the fraternity.

President of the Advocates’ Association of Bangalore K N Subba Reddy said he will moot a state-wide support for the campaign. “People have lost faith in the judicial system and any campaign to fight corruption will be backed by us,” he said.
