Kodagu ZP to hand over funds misuse case to CoD

Kodagu Zilla Panchayat has resolved to hand over the case related to misappropriation of funds in Akshara Dasoha scheme, training in the name of oil palm cultivation and apiculture, Nirmithi Kendra work and purchase of flex board in MGNREGA, to the CoD.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Zilla Panchayat President Shivappa, on Monday. Members Bond Ganapathy, Shareen Subbaiah, Saritha Poonaccha
and others demanded CoD probe into the incident.

The members said that there was difference in the quantity of foodgrains supplied to the schools and demand for the grains, under Akshara Dasoha Scheme.

To bring out the truth, there is a need to hand over the case to CoD.
The flex board was purchased to furbish details on MGNREGA by paying a high price in Somwarpet and Virajpet taluks. The officials are also involved in the purchase, alleged member Bond Ganapathy.

Lakhs of rupees have been drawn in the name of providing training to the farmers in oil palm cultivation and apiculture. A few work taken up by the Nirmithi Kendra are of poor quality. There is a need to probe into such work.

Zilla Panchayat President Saritha Poonacha accused that ZP member Rajarao had threatened the forest department official, who had visited a spot to reclaim the encroached land at Madalapura near Koodige.

Refuting the charges, Rajarao said that he does not possess any gun. “False allegations have been levelled against me.”

Zilla Panchayat member B B Bharathish asked why no disciplinary action was initiated against Virajpet and Madikeri Assistant Director of Akshara Dasoha scheme.
