A 17-year-old student was stabbed to death by a group of teenagers outside a government school in north-west Delhi’s Jahangirpuri on Tuesday.

Police said they have identified the attackers who are all juveniles. Raids are on to nab them, police official said.  Shahrukh, a Class XIII student, had pacified a scuffle which took place between his friend and some boys on Sunday. According to police, Shahrukh had gone to the school to pick up his younger sister, a Class V student, when he was attacked  around 12.45 pm.

“We have been informed that some teenagers had a fight over a girl, but Shahrukh had nothing to do with the girl. He had only intervened to pacify them,” a senior police official said.

Shahrukh was threatened with  dire consequence by the boys during Sunday’s incident and he was standing outside the school when he was attacked on Tuesday. “It seems they came with a plan to kill Shahrukh, as he was attacked with sharp weapons,” police said.

Shahrukh suffered stab injuries on the chest and stomach. It was only after locals informed the police that Shahrukh was rushed to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital. “He was declared brought dead. It is alleged that the accused ensured that Shahrukh was dead before fleeing from the spot,” the official said.

A case of murder has been lodged. Shahrukh’s body was handed over to his family after post-mortem in the evening.
