Renewable energy a must to curb pollution: CM

Last Updated 24 November 2012, 19:32 IST

Chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Saturday stressed the need to harness renewable energy here to decrease the pollution load, make the city cleaner and a better place to live in.

“Delhi does not have the potential to harness the wind energy as per wind resource assessment data available for the country. Only possible renewable energy options in Delhi are solar and garbage waste, and we should optimally harness them,” said Dikshit.

“As governments worldwide rise to the challenges of energy security and climate change, renewable energy has emerged as the most promising solution,” she said.

She was speaking while handing over 1KWP solar power system under My Delhi I Care Fund to Kendriya Sarkari Karmchari Awas Kalayn Samiti and Central Government Employees Residential Welfare Association, Gole market.
