‘I wanted to work with Aamir’

Kareena Kapoor Khan — the new begum of Pataudi — has played a sex worker before in Chameli. But she still maintains that her role in Talaash — that of an escort named Rosy, is far from similar.

She stars along with Aamir Khan and Rani Mukerji in this movie and describes her character as being amongst her most sensitive and powerful.“I play a prostitute, who is kind of an escort. It’s a very deep character. I have hopefully achieved a sensitive performance. It’s by far one of my most sensitive performances, I believe,” Kareena says.

She adds that her role in Chameli — where she was seen in a rustic, raw avatar — cannot be compared with what she has portrayed in Talaash. “Chameli was totally different. It was very raw. The language, body language and the outfit — everything was different. Here, from head to toe, the performance and everything is different,” she points out. She frankly admits that she signed on the dotted line for Talaash because it allowed her to work with Aamir again. “I don’t look at the project as a commercial aspect. I wanted to work with Reema (Kagti) and wanted to work with Aamir again.

I loved the role that was offered to me. This is one of the most powerful roles that I have done,” she reflects, adding, “Reema comes across as a very strong director and a strong personality — but when you get to know her, she is a very sensitive girl and that is what she has brought about in her actors and in her film.”

Impressed by RGV’s flick

Film-maker Ram Gopal Varma’s film on the terrorist attacks of 26/11 has been making ripples in the film industry since it was announced. Recently, the director showcased a 15-minute sequence of his forthcoming film and its evident that he’s earned himself a few new fans — especially Kahaani director Sujoy Ghosh, who raves about it. “That first  seven minutes of the new Ram Gopal Varma film had me glued to the screen,” tweets Ghosh. ‘The Attacks of 26/11’ is based on the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks and its trailer was showcased recently. Varma intends to release it early next year both in Indian and international markets. Varma has made the film with new actors.

Signature steps made famous

Remo D’Souza has decided to promote his upcoming film — ‘ABCD – Anybody Can Dance’ — in a fresh manner. The choreographer-turned director has decided to cut a special promo for the film.

The trailer will feature Remo performing the signature steps of veteran Bollywood film stars. It will be a tribute to the dance moves made famous by the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, Shammi Kapoor, Dharmendra and Dev Anand.

For the 3D film, which was announced earlier this year, Remo has roped in some of the finest performers from the dance reality show, ‘Dance India Dance’, which he had previously judged. The show’s winners Salman Khan, Dharmesh, Prince, Mayuresh and Vrushali play central roles in the movie. Lauren Gottlieb, the victor of the popular talent show, ‘So You Think You Can Dance’, features in the film too.

And the highlight, of course, will be Ganesh Acharya and Prabhu Deva, who will also act in the movie. The latter will also be paying tribute to Michael Jackson by performing his signature moves in a song from the film. “We’re planning to cut some special promos,” says Remo, adding, “For decades, these actors have made our country dance to their steps, which have become trademarks of sorts. A tribute to these legends in a film like ‘ABCD’ seems apt.”Meanwhile, the makers are still in talks with Madhuri Dixit, who they want to rope in for a number with Prabhu Deva. The two last danced together for the song Que Sera Sera from Pukar in 2000.

And the villain is back!

Bollywood’s thunderous baddie Pradeep Rawat — known for his famous villainous roles across the various Indian film industries — is back to what he does best. After winning accolades for his fearsome character in the Aamir Khan-starrer Ghajini, Pradeep is back on-screen as the lead antagonist in the comedy film Grand Masti, which is a sequel to the film Masti.

One of the top-most names down South, Pradeep has been shooting back-to-back for his Tollywood films — but when Ashok Thakeria’s Grand Masti came his way, the actor was super excited and took it up immediately.A source close to the team confirms that the talented veteran is a part of the comedy sequel. “Pradeep Rawat portrays the main negative character in the film.

He was last seen in Ghajini and the entire team felt that the kind of fear factor needed for this role would be wonderfully brought out by him — as he is easily the next Amrish Puri of our era.”  With over 50 films to his credit, Pradeep has been seen in a number of memorable roles in films like Agneepath, Koyla, Sarfarosh, Lagaan, ‘The Hero’ and Deewar as well.Produced by Ashok Thakeria and Indra Kumar, Grand Masti is directed by Indra Kumar and stars Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh, Aftab Shivdasani, Manjari Fadnis, Karishma Tanna, Kainaat Arora, Bruna Abdalah, Maryam Zakaria and Suresh Menon as well.
