The Lokayukta court on Tuesday ordered issue of summons to Chamaraja constituency legislator H S Shankarlingegowda who is accused of giving a false declaration to obtain a ‘G’ category site. The MLA has been directed to appear in the Court on December 28.

The complainant, H Kumar has alleged that Shankarlingegowda was allotted a site in 1976 in Thonachikoppal in Mysore by the then City Improvement Board, and he constructed a house and started living there. During his term as an MLA in 2003, Shankarlingegowda applied for a site under ‘G’ category with the Bangalore Development Authority.

While he applied for the site in March 2003, a site measuring 50x80 sq feet located on Sarjapur Road was alloted to him in September 2003 for a sum of Rs 8.62 lakh. At this time, Shankarlingegowda gave an undertaking that he would construct a house on the site within three years.

But the MLA sold the site within 28 days of allotment for Rs 16 lakh. Kumar alleged that the MLA had obtained the ‘G’ category site only because of his position.
