BSY is the loser, says Eshwarappa

Expressing his disappointment over former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa’s resignation from the BJP’s primary membership, Deputy Chief Minister K S Eshwarappa said it’s a huge loss for Yeddyurappa rather than for the party.

Speaking to media persons here on Friday, he said: “I am disappointed with the stand taken by Yeddyurappa as he was our leader. He is known for taking decisions in haste and this is one among them. In case he returns to the party fold in future, we will  welcome him.”

Wishing Yeddyurappa good luck in his attempt to strengthen his Karnataka Janata Party, Eshwarappa said: “May God bless his new venture. There is no doubt he is a fighter. He is facing corruption charges today because of his own mistakes and deceitful people who have been project themselves as his loyal followers. I hope he comes out clean from all the charges soon.”

He admitted that Yeddyurappa’s exit from the BJP had disappointed the party workers. But it is temporary as loyal followers of the BJP believe the party is greater than an individual and nation greater than party. Even in the past, leaders like Kalyan Singh, Uma Bharti and A K Subbaiah had quit the BJP.

However, they were not able to make a mark in politics. The BJP has the potential to overcome such hurdles. “I am still not aware why he left the party which he used to call his mother. We have decided to take the  situation as a challenge and strengthen the party.”

He expressed confidence that no party MLA or minister would take part in the KJP convention scheduled to be held in Haveri on December 9. Yeddyurappa, who used to claim the support of 70 MLAs, is now asking them not to attend the convention.

“I really wonder what made Yeddyurappa make such a statement when the convention was just around the corner. Has he realised that nobody would attend it,” he questioned. He also made it clear that the party leadership would take disciplinary action against those who take part in the convention.
